Inspired by the sea and pearls, the Dubai Museum of Art becomes a floating ode to the city’s heritage and its boundless artistic ambition.
A new icon is taking shape in the Dubai Creek, one that floats, reflects, and inspires. The Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA), unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, marks a defining moment in the city’s creative evolution.
More than a gallery, DUMA is a sculptural statement, a museum that appears to rise effortlessly from water, blurring the boundary between art and architecture.

Designed by the celebrated Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the structure draws inspiration from the sea and pearls, timeless symbols of Dubai’s heritage.
The result is a seamless dialogue between tradition and modernity a cultural landmark poised to reshape the city’s creative landscape.

Five stories above the water, the museum will unfold as a layered experience of discovery and dialogue. The lower levels will host dynamic exhibition galleries, while the upper floors promise immersive spaces including a restaurant, VIP lounge, and a serene library dedicated to reflection and study.
Beyond exhibitions, DUMA will become a living institution, a venue for talks, educational programmes, and art fairs, nurturing future generations of artists and thinkers.
As His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, “Culture and art are the soul of a city and a lens through which its progress is seen. The Dubai Museum of Art will be a new beacon for the city, enhancing its arts scene and strengthening its global cultural status.”

With DUMA, Dubai once again affirms its place as a global hub for creativity, a city where innovation rises from heritage, and where every ripple on the water tells a story of vision, artistry, and progress.
