Oikos Venezia launches Vela, a new sliding safety door for entrances
Oikos Venezia has launched Vela at this year’s BAU Munich. Ushering in a new era of sophisticated and functional entryways, Vela combines innovative technology, stunning design, high-performance security, and refined aesthetics. It is an innovative sliding safety door that reimagines the concept of home entrances. This unique door will also be present at this year’s Salone del Mobile.Milano.
The door features an elegant horizontal sliding mechanism, eliminating the need for traditional locks and keys. Instead, it features an advanced, fully electronic access system that enhances both security and convenience. Homeowners can unlock and operate the door using a PIN code, Oikos Card, or a fingerprint scanner; which can be integrated into the handle or discreetly placed up to 8 meters away for a seamless design. For added control, the ‘Arckey’ app allows remote access via smartphone.
You can seamlessly integrate Vela into a wall for a hidden effect, or showcase it as a striking feature. Its custom dimensions range from 900×2100 mm to an impressive 3750×5000 mm. The introduction of new porcelain ‘gres’ finishes further enhances Vela’s appeal. These textures blend the metallic elegance of iron with the industrial rawness of concrete, available in shades such as Formwork Concrete, Smooth Concrete (light and dark), and Metallic Iron. Oikos will soon expand these refined finishes across its product range.
The handles have also been meticulously designed, acting as the only visible components of the door. Two interior options are available: one inspired by the Venetian gondola’s Bow Iron, and another with a minimalist aesthetic. The exterior handle is a long vertical piece in aluminum or door-integrated material that helps maintains a flawless, cohesive look.
Facing rigorous testing, Oikos Venezia has ensured Vela meets the highest industry standards in security, insulation, and durability. With a Class 4 break-in resistance, it offers top-tier protection, while its 42 dB acoustic insulation ensures a peaceful indoor environment. Engineered for extreme conditions, Vela boasts Air-Water-Wind tightness ratings of 3-7A-C5, among the highest in its category, and a thermal efficiency rating of Ud 1.3 W/m²K, minimizing energy loss and enhancing home insulation.
Beyond its technical excellence, Vela introduces game-changing innovations that elevate both functionality and aesthetics. An automatic lifting element allows for smooth, effortless operation by raising and lowering the door leaf, while the magnetic levitation system that is invisible and frictionless; ensures seamless movement, especially for doors weighing over 120 kg. The motorised sliding mechanism offers the option of fully automated opening with just the push of a button. Designed for enhanced insulation, the heat barrier frame and leaf reduce condensation and energy costs. Meanwhile, the invisible floor locking system, a patented security feature, enhances safety without disrupting the sleek design. Vela’s threshold-free and rail-free design eliminates architectural barriers, offering a seamless and accessible entryway. Finally, staying true to Oikos’ signature aesthetic, the door features a screw-free construction, ensuring no visible fasteners disrupt its clean, uninterrupted façade.
Recognised internationally for its expertise in architectural entrances, Oikos Venezia seamlessly blends craftsmanship with industrial precision, offering designers and architects a platform to redefine home entryways.
