id Design Awards 2018 Jury: Keiji Takeuchi

Our renowned Juror is a global nomad, creating new classics for the world’s top brands.

We are so very pleased to introduce our id Design Awards 2018 Juror, Keiji Takeuchi. In addition to his truly magical designs, we appreciate and applaud his ability to translate design concepts between cultures whilst creating a language of his own. In a fluid world that sees the immense social value of creativity this is an invaluable gift.

Born in Fukuoka, Japan in 1977, Milan-based Keiji Takeuchi studied product design in New Zealand – where he moved when he was only 15 years old – and then studied at the renowned ENSCI / Les Ateliers in Paris.

In 2003, Takeuchi returned to Japan and since 2005 he has been a member and a designer at Naoto Fukasawa Design ltd. After working at Fukasawa’s office in Tokyo for 7 years, he moved to Milan.

In 2014, Takeuchi started freelancing in addition to working for Fukasawa. During the same year, Takeuchi was selected by Giulio Cappellini as one of a few upcoming designers, and in 2015 Cappellini invited him to work on an installation project for an Italian natural stone company: Antolini at KBIS Las Vegas. Later in the year, Takeuchi established KEIJI TAKEUCHI SRLS.

In 2016, he collaborated with Ambra Medda for Makers & Bakers exhibition during Milano Design week. During the same year, he received EDIDA Young Japanese talent award by Elle Decor Japan. In 2017, he acted as a Juror for Singapore Design Award.
