The globally-known designers explore wellness in the age of pandemic
Technogym has launched a series of online talks during Milano Design Week that explores new trends in wellness design.
Designers Patricia Urquiola, Marco Piva and Kelly Hoppen will be offering their expertise on the subject, discussing the importance of wellness and safe spaces during a pandemic.
Urquiola, who is a longtime Technogym collaborator, discussed the meaning of wellness within a creative process. While health and comfort has always played a vital role in her designs, Urquiola notes that wellness spaces have now become a necessity, integrating within spaces including the home, offices and hotels.
She also added that wellness has become a priority consideration for hospitality projects, as guests’ behaviours begin to mirror their lifestyle choices across the board, whether they are at home or on holiday.
“As a designer, I am always pushing the trend to move from traditional locations of hotel gyms on the lower level (often windowless basements) to a more beautiful floor, like the rooftop or terrace. Looking out onto a beautiful view makes all the difference in one’s wellness experience. All the senses – mind, body and soul- need to be curated,” she said. You can view Urquiola’s talk here.
The talk with identity Design Awards’ longtime jury Marco Piva will be hosted tomorrow, 8 October, while Kelly Hoppen is scheduled for 15 October. You can watch all Technogym Talks here.
