Oluce supporting ‘100 years of Vico Magistretti’ travelling exhibition

Long-established Italian lighting brand helps commemoration of designer’s 60-year-long career.

‘100 years of Vico Magistretti’ is the title of a travelling exhibition that is commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Italian designer and highlights from his sixty-year career.

The exhibition, which is aiming to raise awareness of the designer’s works and methods, began in Cologne and is subsequently moving to Stockholm, Strasbourg and Metz, Prague, Berlin, Budapest, Washington and finally New York.

Visitors will be able to view some of the objects created by Magistretti that have become icons of Italian design, together with collected digitalised drawings, photographs, house and building projects, sketches and product catalogues.

Established in 1945, Oluce is the longest-standing Italian design company still operating in the lighting sector and its history is intertwined with that of Magistretti, who was the brand’s Art Director for many years.

The designer created some of Oluce’s most iconic products, and the brand will feature in many of the expositions scheduled for 2020, in the form of sketches, design drawings and products such as Sonora (1976) and Pascal (1983), as well as various versions of the Atollo lamp which won the Golden Compass Award in 1979.

An important moment in the tour will be the grand exhibition of the whole work of Magistretti, which will be staged in April in the spaces of the Triennale di Milano at the same time as the Salone del Mobile event.
