Enlightenment: teamLab in Kyoto

Digital technology transforms the Shimogamo Shrine into an interactive art space.

From 17 August until 2 September , teamLab (represented by Pace Gallery) will turning the Shimogamo Shrine into interactive art space with digital technology. Their exhibit Resisting and Resonating Ovoids and Forest will light up trees along the road approaching Kyoto’s UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Forest of Tadasu at Shimogamo Shrine , and their Floating, Resonating Spheres, will illuminate the inside of the tower gate with light and sounds.

A representative from sponsor Tokio Inkarami explains, ‘With the concept of ‘delivering Japanese beauty and culture to the world,’ we fuse opposing elements like technology and nature, progress and tradition, or strength and beauty, and cherish the balance between them while we work to create a global beauty culture’.
