Bishop Design was involved in the refurbishment of the project – OPSO Dubai

The interior incorporates design elements culminating in a warm, autumnal ambiance.

In 2019, OPSO Dubai embarked on a remarkable journey as the brand’s inaugural international venture beyond the UK. Since its inception, this iconic destination has had the privilege of hosting royalty, renowned singers, and supermodels from across the globe. Recently, it underwent a sweeping interior transformation, guided by the expertise of the renowned interior design firm, Bishop Design. The studio set out to completely redefine Opso’s appearance, transforming it into a sleek and sexy day-to-night destination. They achieved this by harmoniously blending contrasting elements, marrying refinement with ruggedness and darkness with light to create a multifaceted experience. The interior incorporates design elements such as, wooden parquet, black decorative painted walls resulting in a concrete stone finish, antique brass balustrades, and metallic wooden renders, artfully manipulated by decorative paint and copper leaf to resemble rustic brick-like features, culminating in a warm, autumnal ambiance.

As the journey begins, guests are welcomed by a tantalizing ‘peek-a-boo’ moment, guided by a carefully curated fiber-optic starlit corridor that beckons them into the heart of the venue. Upon crossing the threshold, a visually mesmerizing spectacle unfolds as LED lights adorn the columns and dance across the ceiling, saturating the space with vibrant energy. This dazzling display releases a cascade of colours and patterns, immediately immersing guests in an experience that transcends the palate, inviting them to savour not only the exquisite dishes but also the very essence of Opso itself, as it comes to life through every facet of the environment. Situated in a prime location within Dubai Mall, Opso’s terrace treats its guests to a panoramic view overlooking the captivating dancing fountains, set against the twinkling backdrop of the iconic Burj Khalifa and authentic architecture of the Souk Al Bahr.

Dylan Adams, Senior Designer for Bishop Design explained: “While OPSO, like many of the neighbouring restaurants, caters to a wide range of guests, it distinguishes itself through its diverse array of offerings. The concept revolves around three distinct sectors, OPSO Dining, OPSO Social – the Café and OPSO Privé, each meticulously crafted to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience. Whether one gravitates towards the understated charm of the cafe, craves the vibrant energy of the restaurant, or seeks the exclusive luxury of the lounge to indulge in a delightful selection of mocktails and shisha, there’s an option to satisfy every preference.”

In a city defined by innovation and drenched in competition, standing out is a formidable challenge. This is precisely why choosing Bishop Design for this project was an obvious decision. They demonstrate the courage to challenge conventions and the confidence to introduce fresh, groundbreaking concepts, a spirit Opso embodies.
