Jean-Philippe Nuel, an id Design Awards juror, opened his much-anticipated US office.
Known for his uncanny ability to create luxury hotel experiences, acclaimed designer Jean-Philipe Nuel – one of the most respected names in hospitality scene – has just opened his first office in the US.
After working all over the world, affirms his intention to work in the United States, opening his studio in New York City. It was thanks to his pivotal meeting with New York-based interior designer Sandy Despres that created this opportunity. Formerly a businesswoman working in finance, Despres has many years of experience managing interior design projects, bringing in valuable knowledge of the US market to her partnership with Nuel.

This move to the US has been a long journey. Nuel first created his studio in Paris 20 years ago. Largely acclaimed for his talent to create original atmospheres for high-end luxury hotels, his name is now synonymous with 4- and 5-stars hotels worldwide. With a roster of clients gathering the biggest hotel groups such as Marriott, Hilton, Accor, Starwood, Ascott and Intercontinental, Nuel has proven over the years his ability to bring his own signature and personality to an industry that often has too many standards.
His creative spirit has been infused into some of the most sought-after projects in France including: Le 5 Codet, a haven hidden behind the Invalides Dome in Paris; Molitor, an Art Deco swimming pool turned into a social club and hotel; the Law Court in Nantes, turned into a highly successful 4-star resort; Le Grand Hôtel Dieu, a historical hotel in Lyon, and many more. In addition to hotels, the design brand has worked on office interiors, product designs and especially, numerous flagships in Japan, using their twenty years of experience to create solid concepts that elevate a projects new design.
