id50 2025 — Kristina Zanic

The Founder of Kristina Zanic Consultants shares the achievements and design vision for the firm.

What are the latest exciting projects that you are working on that will come to life in the near future?

We’re kicking off the year with projects in new locations like Albania and Tanzania, which is always thrilling for the team – it’s a chance to explore and learn something new. Our company ethos has always been about finding inspiration through travel, and we like to see every project as a journey of discovery.

We’re also working on a high-profile project in Azerbaijan, tackling the challenge of designing vast public areas while keeping a human scale. Closer to home, a unique Emirati café called Gerbou is set to open soon, celebrating local culture and sustainability. And later this year, we’re anticipating the openings of Intercontinental The Red Sea Resort and the renovated St. Regis Kuwait. Plus, we’re diving into several branded residences projects, which are a great balance between hospitality and home design.

St Regis Red Sea by Kristina Zanic Consultants

Please mention some of your latest projects/ achievements as a firm (Top 3)

2024 was a big year for us. We completed the St. Regis Red Sea, transformed the Sheraton Mall of the Emirates, and revamped IHG’s Dubai office. We also launched a London office, which is steadily growing, and have set up a dedicated in-house studio for luxury residential projects.

Can you talk about a type of project that you would like to take on in 2025 that would interest you and your team to pursue (dream project that you would like to manifest)?

We’d love to work on something with unique architecture or in a stunning location – like the Tanzania safari lodges we’re designing now. While large-scale luxury projects are our core, we enjoy balancing them with smaller, more intimate designs.

How would you describe your ‘house style’ and design philosophy?

At home, I keep it simple and calm – a personal, laidback space filled with art and pieces collected from my travels. I believe great design starts with great space planning. That’s the secret to a seamless, functional space.
