The founder of Killa Design shares the achievements and design vision for the firm.
What are the latest exciting projects that you are working on that will come to life in the near future?
We’re excited to be working on several groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of innovation and design. One Central, commissioned by DWTC and developed with Nick Candy, is a shining example of hyper-luxury living. Comprising three branded towers, two of which are luxury hotels, each with an avant-garde design language, the project seamlessly integrates with Dubai’s urban landscape while elevating its skyline. It represents a bold new vision for urban living, blending sophistication and functionality in ways that redefine expectations.
In northwest Saudi Arabia, Leyja is being crafted as a breathtaking tourism destination. Nestled within a dramatic wadi framed by mountains rising 200 to 300 meters high, Leyja is a sanctuary for wellbeing and longevity. Its two reflective volumes mirror the surrounding landscape, creating a design that harmonises seamlessly with nature while offering an immersive experience rooted in tranquillity and renewal.
Zamani Islands in the Maldives is another project we’re proud of. This eco-luxury development spans eight islands within an expansive lagoon and includes three luxury resorts alongside the region’s first superyacht marina. What sets Zamani Islands apart is its commitment to sustainability, it will be the first 100% renewable energy-powered resort in the Maldives. This project not only elevates the standards for eco-tourism but hopefully aims to inspire sustainable hospitality developers globally.
We’re also working on a signature tower in Baku, Azerbaijan. Set to rise as the tallest building in the city, this tower will feature a super-luxury branded hotel, a casino, and residences. We also have several museums, educational centres, and masterplans in development across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, as well as a luxury hotel in Angola and a luxury hotel and casino in the United States.
Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab Villas
Please mention some of your latest projects and achievements as a firm.
One of our proudest recent achievements is Shebara Resort, a hyper-luxury eco-resort located 25 kilometres offshore in Saudi Arabia. Shebara reflects our commitment to sustainability, operating entirely off-grid with zero emissions, water and waste and powered by over 100,000 square meters of solar panels. Inspired by a string of pearls, the overwater villas reflect the sea and the sky, creating an almost invisible yet otherworldly experience. Shebara exemplifies our commitment to sustainability, showcasing Saudi Arabia’s marine biodiversity while setting a new global standard for luxury eco-tourism.
Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, set to open in early 2025, is another milestone project. The final chapter in an iconic trilogy alongside the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah and Jumeirah Beach Hotel, this resort combines traditional and futuristic design elements. Its fluid form, inspired by the elegance of superyachts, offers guests an unparalleled hospitality experience, with stunning views of the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah and a vibrant superyacht marina.
The Museum of the Future remains a defining project for us. Its torus-shaped form, adorned with flowing Arabic calligraphy, represents a union of heritage and innovation. More than a building, it is a global icon and a hub for exploring humanity’s future. It’s a true testament to how architecture can inspire, challenge, and innovate on a grand scale.
Another landmark project is the Address Beach Resort, a striking addition to Jumeirah Beach Residences skyline. Its twin towers, connected by the world’s tallest occupied skybridge, and highest infinity pool in the world, represent a bold vision for urban luxury.

What type of project would you like to pursue in 2025?
We’re passionate about designing hyper-sustainable projects that challenge convention and leave a meaningful impact. A dream project would be a hyper-luxury eco-safari lodge. We’d also love to design waterfront masterplans that harmonise leisure, yachting, marinas, and biophilia. Another exciting project would be designing a superyacht.
How would you describe your ‘house style’ and design philosophy?
Our design philosophy begins with a deep respect for context and a passion for innovation. Every project is an exploration of the cultural, environmental, and urban context in which it exists. We aim to honour heritage while crafting designs that inspire future generations, spaces that are timeless yet forward-thinking, sustainable yet striking.
Many of our projects draw inspiration from organic forms and fluid geometries, creating designs that feel intrinsically connected to nature while embracing a distinctly futuristic ambition. In urban settings, we adopt a refined contemporary language, characterised by minimalism and horizontal planes, where clean, understated forms evoke a sense of calm and balance.
Materiality plays an essential role, natural materials, including wood, stone, and textured finishes, which lend warmth, authenticity, and a tactile connection to the surrounding environment. At the same time, biophilia is integral to our approach. From cascading vertical gardens to expansive courtyards, we aim to blur the boundaries between the built and natural world, creating environments where greenery becomes part of the architecture itself.
Light is a profound design tool in our projects. By integrating screens and filtering elements, we sculpt light into dynamic patterns that shift throughout the day, creating spaces that feel alive. These elements not only diffuse sunlight beautifully but also add layers of texture, depth, and an ever-changing atmosphere that engages the senses.
Ultimately, our goal is to create architecture that touches both the heart and mind. We believe that truly exceptional spaces resonate emotionally, leaving people with lasting memories of joy and wonder. Achieving this means going beyond conventional boundaries to craft something extraordinary.
For instance, the sweeping arch at Marsa Al Arab’s porte-cochere establishes a breathtaking sense of arrival, drawing guests into an ethereal, monumental space. At the Museum of the Future, the column-free atrium and exhibition spaces are illuminated by natural light filtering through Arabic calligraphy, creating a constantly evolving interplay of shadow and glow that embodies a living environment.
Through bold cantilevers and structures that appear weightless, we explore the shared human sense of wonder, blending beauty and timelessness. By doing so, we create spaces that not only inspire but also forge profound connections, elevating architecture into an art form that endures.
What empowers you and your team?
Our strength lies in our studio culture and the exceptional diversity of our team. We take pride in carefully selecting individuals who share our passion for design excellence. We’ve built an environment where creativity thrives, and every voice is valued. Diversity is at the core of what we do, our team brings unique perspectives that enrich our designs and drive innovation. Competing on a global stage and winning projects against some of the world’s leading firms is both humbling and empowering. It’s a reminder to stay passionate, push boundaries, and never stop dreaming of what’s possible.
