Meet Ghida Chehab, Founder of Studio Baab
Can you let us know about the latest exciting projects that you are working on?
We’re currently immersed in a range of exciting projects, each offering its own distinct narrative and design approach. Among them, two that stand out are OBLO and TWLV. OBLO, a café in Qatar, is a celebration of wood in all its forms and its versatility through a minimalist design. Whereas TWLV, features an architectural project blending industrial heritage with modern design. It’s an interconnection of concrete warehouses integrated with selective greenery, merging raw industrial elements with the contemporary.
Please mention some of your proudest achievements as a firm (Top 3)
One of our proudest achievements has been our expansion into the Middle East, with projects across Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Venturing into these diverse and dynamic regions has been both a challenge and an opportunity to connect with new cultures, while still maintaining ties with the cities that inspire us. Another achievement close to our hearts is the strength of our team. We’ve cultivated a studio environment that feels more like a family, where collaboration is at the core, and every member has the space to grow. It’s this collective energy that sparks creativity and drives our most inspiring work.
Can you talk about a type of project that you would like to take on in 2025 that would interest you and your team to pursue (dream project that you would like to manifest)?
In 2025, we’d love to create a boutique hotel, offering the perfect opportunity to blend narrative and design in a cohesive space. We’re also excited to explore a furniture and product design collection, crafting unique pieces that contribute to a personalized guest experience. It’s a chance to truly curate an experience while also offering us the freedom to manifest our own collection of products that reflect the philosophy we embed into our designs.

How would you describe your ‘house style’ and design philosophy?
My design philosophy is centered on creating warm, inviting spaces that reflect personal identity through thoughtful material choices. I particularly love using wood in its various forms, as it adds both warmth and timeless beauty. Ultimately, a home should be a sanctuary—grounded, yet inspiring, where every detail fosters a sense of ease and individuality.

As this is the power issue, what empowers you and your team?
What truly empowers us is the strong, supportive bond we’ve built as a team. This shared understanding and mutual respect allow us to navigate the complexities of design with confidence. We also believe in the power of balance—between work and play. This harmony fuels not only our creativity but also the joy we find in the process. When work feels fun, it’s always refreshing, and that energy translates into every project we take on.
