id50 2025 – Fady Chams

Meet Fady Chams, Owner of Prospect Design International

Can you let us know about the latest exciting projects that you are working on?

We’re thrilled to share some exciting projects currently in the works. The closest one around the corner is Elaia, an elevated Greek-dining experience which will be making its grand reveal in the first quarter of 2025, right from Dubai’s legendary Pier 7 establishment.

Following on from our Downtown Dubai collaboration in 2020, we have been working closely with the CÉ LA VI brand on their global expansion. This summer, we’re delighted to unveil its first European outpost. Located at the rooftop of Paddington Square, it will be the highest rooftop-bar in West London, promising stunning views and an unforgettable experience.

Another project we cannot wait for Dubai to enjoy is an immersive cricket and hospitality experience. It’s a vibrant, immersive space where entertainment meets technology. From neon-pink interiors to gamified dining, our design is all about fun and energy! A pop-up experience is set to open in the coming months before the official opening later this year – so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.

Across the board we’ve found that we are really establishing a niche in the Leisure & Entertainment sector, building on creations like Brass Monkey and YOOO! alongside several large-scale complexes across the UAE. These ambitious projects require extensive planning and detailed design work, often demanding grand-in-size spaces that deliver a wide array of experiences. In recent times, we’ve been entrusted with and successfully delivered an increasing number of these projects, making a name for ourselves in this field. We look forward to keeping this momentum going in 2025!

VNYL Hi-Fi

Please mention some of your proudest achievements as a firm (Top 3)

Celebrating our 20th anniversary last year was a deeply meaningful milestone. We rebranded with a sleek, professional identity that captures our evolution while setting us up for the future. Our industry moves at an incredibly fast pace. In the first month of 2025 alone, we received multiple tenders. It’s important to look back and realise how far we’ve come.

Our involvement in some of Dubai’s most loved homegrown brands is also something we’re incredibly proud of. Brass Monkey for example, which is now being exported outside of the UAE, is a huge testament to the very first design we created back on Bluewaters Island in 2020 and how its evolved for more recent locations in City Walk, Cairo, and others on the horizon. Dubai is our home, so for us to be involved in these local concepts and see them thrive means a lot to us.

We also take immense pride in our collaborations with international brands and projects across the globe, especially while being a boutique-run company. That’s always been important to us and still is to this day.

Can you talk about a type of project that you would like to take on in 2025 that would interest you and your team to pursue (dream project that you would like to manifest)?

We’d certainly like to grow our international footprint, with projects in Saudi Arabia but also further afield, expanding on our works in Europe. A dream project for me is one where everything we design is built. The construction process can sometimes bring about changes that derail from the original vision —whether through compromises or misaligned decisions. Seeing every detail come to life exactly as intended is the ultimate dream for any designer.

How would you describe your ‘house style’ and design philosophy?

We always look at the business first and how we as designers can maximise their success. When talking about aesthetics, we really enjoy being bold and colourful, creating spaces that are full of energy! Photo-worthy spots are gold dust in today’s day and age – we consider these a Prospect Design signature!

As this is the power issue, what empowers you and your team?

Design is not only on paper. It’s about real-life experiences. Seeing people in our venues and knowing that we have been involved in some of the city’s busiest establishments – that’s truly empowering. A space can be incredibly beautiful but unsuccessful, but we know that our spaces welcome thousands of guests every year. We take great pride in the role we have to play there.
