Baranzate Ateliers by Zaventem Ateliers is set to transform the future of collectible design

The curatorial program will showcase a deep commitment to societal and environmental values

Baranzate Ateliers

Baranzate Ateliers is back in Milan for its eagerly awaited second edition, promising an even bigger and bolder showcase compared to its highly successful debut during Milan Design Week in 2022. Occupying a massive 7,300 square meter industrial building at Via Gaudenzio Fantoli 16/3, near Linate, this year’s program will feature art, collectible design, and performances, aiming to be a major highlight of the design week.

Conceived by Zaventem Ateliers, a creative hub founded by Belgian designer and architect Lionel Jadot in 2019, Baranzate Ateliers is the latest in a series of trailblazing initiatives which have seen the transformation of vast industrial “wastelands” around Brussels, Paris, Lisbon and Milan into dynamic showcases for pioneering design talent. With a core mission emphasizing manual and experimental craftsmanship, their hive-like approach fosters a community of like-minded makers, encouraging collective and innovative artistry.

The curatorial program of Baranzate Ateliers features vibrant new works by 14 designers from Zaventem Ateliers, showcasing a deep commitment to societal and environmental values. From fortress-inspired furniture to objects crafted from unconventional materials like clay, sand, and gravel, the highlights include wood-crafted designs by Arno Declerq, abstract tapestries by KRJST Studio, and bronze LED pendant lights by DIM Atelier, among others. Additionally, 11 specially invited designers and design studios, primarily from France and Belgium, will present brand-new series, including stone and wood creations by Studio Khachatryan, furniture handcrafted from recycled materials by Middernacht & Alexander, and monochrome wall sculptures by Marijke De Cock.

“Baranzate Ateliers is a hub of contemporary excellence, merging collectible design with a dedicated curatorial vision,” says Lionel Jadot. “The radical 7,300 sqm space amplifies the relevance of the showcased creations, converging contemporary talent with historical remnants and collectively pushing boundaries towards poetic beauty. Leading the way towards a collaborative approach to collectible design, the event echoes the Zaventem Ateliers motto: strength lies in unity. It fosters a philosophy centred on the sharing of spaces, ideas, and energies in order to cultivate distinct and positive emulation.” Rooted in Belgium, Zaventem Ateliers aims to foster a culture of sharing places, ideas, and energies, fostering a unique and positive environment for creative exploration and collaboration.
