Light and form take centre stage as Preciosa mesmerises through their crystal creations.
Preciosa Lighting, a global leader in premium lighting design, will captivate audiences at Downtown Design 2024 with a mesmerising display of light and form. Under the theme Signature Designs, Preciosa unveils flexible lighting concepts that merge traditional glassmaking techniques with contemporary design and technology, showcasing endless customisation possibilities for designers and architects.
The highlight of Preciosa’s display is ‘Crystal Beat’, an immersive fusion of light and sound inspired by the brand’s Signature Design Crystal Pixels. Suspended hand-blown crystal cubes, or “pixels,” form an intricate grid that pulses in rhythm, creating a multi-sensory experience. Each pixel lights up in sync with the music, inviting visitors to explore the emotional interplay of light and sound., “Lighting has the power to evoke emotions, and with Crystal Beat, we invite visitors to experience how light and sound can transform the perception of space,” Co-Creative Director Michael Vasku explains.

Also on display is Crystal Pixels, a Signature Design that pays homage to the aesthetics of digital art, blending nostalgia with sleek geometric lines. This flexible lighting system allows designers to customise each pixel’s size, material, and programming, whether used as a single element or in complex installations. Crystal Pixels transforms spaces through various lighting options, from ambient to functional, with colour effects that adapt to any setting or occasion.
In contrast, Crystal Grid, also on display – presents a minimalist masterpiece, combining hand-blown crystal tubes in a sophisticated, geometric structure. Winner of the 2023 Red Dot Design Award in the Brands & Communication Design and Light Installation category, this installation brings clarity and strength to spaces large and small. With customisable tube lengths, finishes, and lighting options, Crystal Grid suits a range of environments, creating a unique visual impact through its simplicity and elegance.
At Downtown Design 2024, Preciosa will elevate lighting design to an art form. Each installation embodies the brand’s philosophy: lighting is not merely a source of illumination, but a creator of emotion and connection. With its cutting-edge designs and centuries of craftsmanship, Preciosa continues to push the limits of what is possible in lighting, forging a path where tradition meets innovation.
“At Preciosa, we believe in the transformative power of light. It shapes the environment, evokes emotion, and connects people. We strive to create designs that not only illuminate a space but also resonate with the soul,” notes Andreas Klug, Creative Director of Preciosa Lighting.
