Highlights from Maison&Objet Paris 2024

Here are the main highlights from the exciting design fair that took place between 5-9 September 2024

Elisabeth Leriche x Maison&Objet

Designed around the inspirational theme called TERRA COSMOS, the Maison&Objet Paris 2024  content and events delivered on the promise of a journey from the earth to the moon.  We highlight some of the fair’s best moments below:

1. Elizabeth Leriche’s Odyssey: A Cosmic Journey of Craft and Technology

Elisabeth Le Riche at Maison&Objet

Elizabeth Leriche presented a narrative immersed in the stars, where futuristic design met exceptional craftsmanship. Her installation, an immersive odyssey, transported visitors through five spatiotemporal capsules, each blending magic with groundbreaking technology. It offered a glimpse of desirable futures shaped by evolving aesthetics—materials, textures, volumes, patterns, and colour gradations—all brought to life with a sense of wonder. This visionary exploration exemplified how design can shape new realities, merging the fantastical with the practical.

2. “What’s New? In Retail”

Terra Cosmos

This exhibit was a strategic curation of standout products and best-sellers tailored to the modern retail landscape. It provided not only a showcase of new products but also a toolkit for success in an ever-evolving market. Retailers left with valuable insights and “ready-to-use” advice from industry experts. Additionally, 24 coaching workshops covered critical topics, offering a holistic approach to driving growth in stores—making it a hub of knowledge for those looking to refresh their retail strategies.

3. Lionel Jadot’s Vision for Zero-Waste Hospitality

Lionel Jadot at Maison & Objet

As the Designer of the Year, Belgian visionary Lionel Jadot stole the show with his disruptive take on the future of hospitality. His installation in “What’s New? In Hospitality” reimagined hotel rooms and lobbies through a zero-waste lens. Working with a creative collective from his Zaventem studio, Jadot’s focus on upcycling and sustainable innovation stood out as a bold statement about the future of design. His zero-waste project exemplified how tomorrow’s hotels could harmonise luxury with sustainability, offering an inspiring blueprint for eco-conscious design.

4. Celebrating Emerging Talents

Maison&Objet

The September edition of Maison&Objet championed the next generation of designers through several initiatives. The Rising Talent Awards: Nordic Countries celebrated groundbreaking designers from Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland.  Future On Stage was an additional platform that spotlighted three innovative young brands, showcasing their flagship products . Complementing this were the exciting designs from Paris Design Week’s “Factory” program, echoing the dynamism of the young talent in Hall 7.

5. A Comprehensive Talks Program

Maison&Objet

With 24 conferences held, Maison&Objet Talks became a dynamic forum for exploring the latest interior design trends and creative insights. The conversations united experts from various industries, skilled designers, and innovative thinkers, resulting in a valuable exchange of ideas that expanded the possibilities of design. Attendees were offered a rare opportunity to engage with the most influential figures in design through this collection of prestigious voices, which included appearances by Cordelia de Castellane, Artistic Director at Dior Maison, and Tom Dixon, Founder and Creative Director of Tom Dixon Studio.

Looking ahead, the January 2025 fair promises to carry forward these innovations by honing on hospitality, collectible design, and fashion accessories. Each of these focal points will continue to explore how design is evolving, offering visitors even more ways to discover, be inspired, and connect with the next generation of creativity.
