Quiet Luxury

Studio SuCo transforms a villa in Dubailand into a refined home

Soft textures, sculptural forms and sunlit tones come together in this home in Dubailand. Termed the ‘AyoUdo villa’, Studio SuCo led by interior designer Carrie Das were tasked with creating a home that was both refined and effortlessly livable. The studio went one step ahead – creating a home that is calm, cohesive, and completely personal.”For us, it’s about creating homes that reflect our clients’ lifestyle—not just their Pinterest board,” says designer Carrie Das. “When everything is aligned, when the details are intuitive, the whole house just works. And more importantly—it feels like theirs.”

The studio joined the project at a late stage, once the architectural shell, MEP, and base finishes were complete.”Coming in late means moving fast—but also staying focused,” shares Das. Once we had their trust, we got to do what we do best: pull everything together, seamlessly. There’s a quiet confidence to this home. It’s fully designed but not overdone. The reveal was emotional. They walked in with only clothes, and suddenly—they had a home that reflected exactly who they were, right down to the teaspoons.”

The brief given by the client included clean lines, an elevated yet comfortable feel and spaces that reflect who the clients are, with subtle nods to their Ethiopian heritage, which was showcased in the family lounge. Natural tones and materials dominate the palette: ivory bouclé, honed marble, brushed brass, and pale oak all work in harmony to create a soft, grounded backdrop for everyday living. Every interior element was thoughtfully curated: bespoke joinery, lighting, furnishings, soft finishes, appliances, and accessories. By handover, the home was fully staged, styled and ready to live in. “We used natural textures, tailored detailing, and strategic restraint to deliver a space that felt light and contemporary without losing soul,” shares Das.

In the bedrooms, wide-plank European oak flooring adds quiet warmth underfoot and sets the tone for rest and retreat. Paired with tonal textiles, fluted detailing, and layers of ambient light, the result is a master suite that feels more like a boutique hotel than a suburban villa. Every element was designed to invite ease—from the curved vanity and upholstered bench to the sculptural pendants and perfectly placed greenery.

The result? The homeowners arrived with only their suitcases, and stepped into a space that felt instantly, unmistakably like home. “Carrie was amazing to work with—flexible, creative, and always willing to go the extra mile.” said the owners. “She helped with things we didn’t even think to ask. Every guest admires the result. We are beyond happy, and we’ll absolutely work with her again.”
