Thanks to the ongoing dedication of the people behind such destinations as d3 and Art Dubai, Dubai has been honoured by UNESCO a creative city. The distinction come from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Since 2004, it highlights its members’ creativity within seven fields: Crafts and Folk Art, Design, Film, Gastronomy, Literature, Media Arts and Music. It now counts a total of 180 cities in 72 countries. By joining this distinguished group of international cities, Dubai also commits to developing and exchanging innovative best practices to promote creative industries, strengthen participation in cultural life, and integrate culture into sustainable urban development policies.
