‘Socially conscious’ pop-up bar features at Downtown Design
Highly anticipated ‘Just One Bar’ has opened at the fair in Dubai Design District.
One of the stand-out features of this year’s Downtown Design fair, taking place at is a bar that aims to celebrate diversity.
Wilson Associates was given the task of bringing the concept to life, and says it used the opportunity “to instigate dialogue within the region’s design community, conveying the power of the individual to drive change”.
The Dubai studio says that pop-up experience delivers a “community-based message that paves the way for a microcosm of local ideas and materials blended together to create a socially conscious experience. Inspired by a mission of driving change through collective voices and actions, the bar explores simple messages of camaraderie and collaboration.”
Talking about the design of the bar, Wilson Associate says: “A sequence of design elements layer the guest’s journey as visitors move from the bar to its outdoor terrace. Placed at angles, the serving stations create pockets of interaction that bring people together. Large-scale suspended features anoint the area with colour and light.”
