3 galleries to debut at Design Miami/Basel

The fourteenth edition of the exhibition will include new international exhibitors.

Design Miami/Basel

The world’s leading design galleries present curated exhibitions of museum-quality furniture, lighting and objects d’art at Design Miami/Basel. Among the seventy-six exhibitors at this year’s fair will be three galleries making their debut.

  • Erik Thomsen Gallery – Based in New York, the Erik Thomsen will present rare, early twentieth-century Japanese and Chinese baskets by pioneers of bamboo art and design from Lizuka Rokansai to Waichisai Wada III.
  • Functional Art Gallery – Presenting a solo show by the design duo OrtaMiklos, this Berlin gallery will present a series inspired by our modern technological ruins, including The White Ladies, a pair of reading lamps made of women’s stockings filled with cement and shaped using electric cables.
  • Galerie Meubles et Lumieres – Specializing in furniture and lighting from the 1950s to 1970s, this galerie will focus on the work of Daniele Raimbault-Saerens who produced one-of-a-king commissioned pieces for French architects.

Design Miami/Basel runs from June 11-16, 2019.
