id Design Awards 2018 Jury: Marco Piva

Our Head Juror has been honouring id Awards with his world-renowned expertise since 2015.

Marco Piva

It is our pleasure to introduce Marco Piva, the Head Juror of the id Design Awards since 2015. For years, his passion and dedication to having a design dialogue with the region’s designers, architects and developers has earned him a reputation as a sincere champion of design in Dubai. It has been an honour to work with Piva to give an international platform to the region’s top talent.

Piva’s studio is headquartered in Milan, with branches in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Beijing, Mumbai and Doha. As an architect, interior designer, master planner and industrial designer, he collaborates with top global developers and leading brands.

His latest projects include, The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel, Rome, Italy, and the Tonino Lamborghini Hotel, Chengdu, China.

The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel

Guests are falling in love with Piva’s latest design treasure: The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel. The five-star property sits in one of the city’s areas with the highest concentration of monuments – and its magnificent contemporary interior design reflects its timeless local environment whilst maintaining a sense of home.

The captivating interior reflects the marbles (Rosso and Statuario), as well as the colour of metals, and rooms even have windows that create the effect of being paintings of ancient Rome with their breath-taking views of the monuments.

Other top projects include Casa Alitalia flagship lounges in Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa airports. Milanese project, Excelsior Hotel Gallia, has won four prestigious World Travel Awards: Europe’s leading luxury Hotel; Italy’s leading Hotel; Europe’s leading Hotel Suite (Katara Suite); and Italy’s leading Hotel Suite (Katara Suite). Other major projects include: NEXT21 in Osaka, Japan; the Laguna Palace hotel in Mestre, Italy; and the Port Palace hotel in Monte Carlo.

Piva’s other awards include la Triennale de Milano and the Compasso d’Oro design awards, and his ‘Designing the Complexity’ programme was presented at the 15th Biennale Architettura.
