Fritz Hansen’s exhibition celebrates the 60th anniversary of designs from the world’s first design hotel.
This year, exactly 60 years ago, Arne Jacobsen presented the world’s first design hotel to the public: the SAS Royal Hotel, today the Radisson Collection Royal Hotel. With the new travelling exhibition, Timeless Yet Relevant in Time, Fritz Hansen will celebrate this anniversary of these three iconic pieces and spread the knowledge of one of the greatest talents of time, Arne Jacobsen, focusing particularly on his architecture and design.
The hotel was not just an architectural revolution, but it was a genuine ‘gesamtkunstwerk’ where everything from furniture to cutlery was designed by Jacobsen himself. The revolutionary furniture, which included the Egg™, Swan™ and Drop™ chairs, was all created in collaboration with Fritz Hansen, who still produces these and many other icons from Jacobsen’s studio.
The exhibition will visit 16 selected cities in Europe and the United States, where it will be open to the public as well as form the backdrop to several events.
