Sarita Handa and Kristina Zanic Consultants announce the launch of DEEBAJ, a special-edition textile collection that reinterprets the rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia through the artistry of Indian craftsmanship.
Taking its name from the Arabic word “Deebaj”- a luxurious embroidered silk garment- the collection is a tactile tribute to Saudi design, weaving together architectural references, cultural symbolism, and traditional craft. A collaboration between Sarita Handa and Kristina Zanic Consultants, the collaboration blends the identity and tradition of both Indian and Saudi cultures, reflecting a shared ethos of the brands through their intuitive design sensibility and ability to create pieces that hold meaning and memory.
Rooted in heritage but designed for modern interiors, the collaboration between the fabric manufacturer and interior design firm includes 45 original designs for cushions and curtains, offered in a variety of colourways. The patterns draw inspiration from the geometry of Najdi and Salmani architecture, the fluidity of local robes, and motifs found in desert flora, Islamic art, and Sadu weaving.

The textiles speak the design language of Saudi Arabia, with the opportunity to add cultural authenticity to the growing wave of commercial and residential developments across the Kingdom. Most of the pieces feature hand embroidery, showcasing Sarita Handa’s expertise in signature Indian craftsmanship like weaving, patchwork and hand quilting.
Launched in celebration of the Saudi Year of Handicraft, DEEBAJ pays homage to generations of Saudi women whose artistry – through weaving, palm frond crafts, and textile embellishment – has long preserved the stories of their land.

The creative direction was led by Saudi designer Amani Al Ibrahim at Kristina Zanic Consultants, with the firm’s Riyadh-based team contributing a distinctly local perspective. Working closely with the Sarita Handa brand, the teams explored materials, tested techniques, and refined each element to bring the final vision to life.“This collection is a tribute to everything that is crafted, carrying with it a sense of soul and knowledge passed down through generations,” says Kristina Zanic, CEO of Kristina Zanic Consultants. “It reflects deep respect for Saudi traditions while interpreting them in a fresh, modern way.”
“We see fabric as a language,” adds Sarita Handa, Founder and Chairperson of Sarita Handa. “And in this collection, that language speaks of place, pride, and time-honoured traditions.”
DEEBAJ is available exclusively through special order from Sarita Handa.
