Industry experts debate collaborative versus individual workspaces for identity Debates with Herman Miller

identity Debates was launched in collaboration with Herman Miller

identity has launched its first web series, titled identity Debates, part of its wider, soon-to-be-launched Talks series that invites designers and architects to engage in discussions on important topics and new projects.

The series was launched in collaboration with modern office furniture brand, Herman Miller, offering a debate-form webinar where two teams came together to argue which is better: collaborative or individual workspaces?

Considering the shifts in office design trends over the years, the modern office has undergone many changes. With the ongoing global COVID 19 pandemic, working from home has changed the dynamic in the ways we interact with our colleagues and our general working behaviours and patterns.

While the question on whether collaborative or individual spaces are more beneficial to employees has been an ongoing debate, recent events have propelled us to question this even further – especially as we slowly ease our way back to the office.

The teams were made up of Laila Al-Yousuf, design director and partner at SAY Studio and Toby Hall, director – head of Office and Business Space Leasing – UAE  at JLL MENA who were on Team Collaborative and Oliver Baxter, insight programme manager at Herman Miller and Joyce Jarjoura, practice leader for Financial and Professional Services at Gensler.  The event was moderated by  identity’s editor, Aidan Imanova.
