Pedrali’s Caementum table takes on a new seasonal allure with the introduction of glossy olive green and deep brown finishes, hues that echo the stillness and mystery of a winter forest. Designed by Marco Merendi and Diego Vencato, the piece brings a refined, atmospheric touch to domestic interiors while maintaining the architectural clarity that defines its form.

At its core, Caementum is a monoblock table crafted entirely from concrete – a single sculptural volume defined by its soft, balanced geometry and central base. The designers have elevated the material’s performance by incorporating carefully selected additives, ensuring superior durability, ease of cleaning, resistance to mechanical stress and weather, and low permeability to liquids and stains.

Thoughtfully engineered, the table features a nylon foot to protect delicate surfaces, while its hollow interior allows for easier movement without compromising structural integrity. This combination of weight and practicality makes Caementum as functional as it is expressive.

Highly versatile, the table is conceived to form multiple configurations and adapt seamlessly to diverse environments. Whether placed in a convivial indoor setting or anchoring an outdoor space, Caementum stands offers timeless materiality, innovative craftsmanship and design rooted in both utility and atmosphere.

1. Deneb by Guch Design

Deneb evokes the perfection of seashells and the divine proportion, merging nature and sacred geometry in its design. Each curve invites contemplation, creating a space where the timeless beauty of the sea comes to life, offering serenity and balance with every use.

2. Stone rug by Illulian

Designed by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa, the Stone rug draws inspiration from the arrangement of stones – whether randomly stacked or carefully placed. Reflecting the dual craftsmanship of nature and artisans, the rug features irregular geometries and soft tones contrasted by darker joints, evoking the look of a paved road.

4. Islas by Draw Studio for NEUTRA

This table has a sharp, light top, characterised by fluid curves and taut arches, which contrast with a monolithic base made of solid marble and expertly handcrafted metal wedges. Proposed in a high-quality Cipollino misto marble version and metal legs with a hand-polished and burnished brass finish, Isla can be customised on request with different marble variants, thus adapting to specific stylistic and design requirements.

5. Anemos by Pedrali

Anemos is the new table designed by Pio & Tito Toso, characterised by simple and architectural shapes designed to enhance the materiality of concrete, giving it a new expressive style. A versatile, universal table that perfectly fits indoor and outdoor environments, its distinctive feature is the base, composed of two separate concrete shells secured to the top. Like a structural membrane, these elements free themselves from their image of intrinsic weight and, through a double curvature, take on a flexible and sinuous shape.

Italian furniture manufacturer Pedrali is celebrating both the 25th edition of Maison & Objet in Paris and its own 10th year of participation with its ‘Palace of Wonders’ booth.

Designed by Milan-based architectural studio Calvi Brambilla, the 160-square metre booth is located at the entrance of Hall 6 in Today Signature, the section dedicated to interior design combining originality and innovation.

Guests are welcomed in a lounge area furnished with pastel-coloured seating units from the Buddy collection by Busetti Garuti Redaelli, while the stand also offers a preview of a new special version of the Eugeni Quitllet-designed Soul Soft armchair, with solid ash wood frame and padded polycarbonate shell upholstered in genuine leather.

In the restaurant section of the booth, visitors can see the Héra armchair designed by Patrick Jouin, the Tamara suspension lamp by Basaglia Rota Nodari, and Inox tables, which made their debut 20 years ago.

The Jamaica collection by CMP Design can be experienced in the urban restaurant section, while the Jazz seating collection, including a new chair, is the key feature of the set depicting a modern and welcoming bakery. It is joined by Stylus tables and Giravolta wireless lighting by Basaglia Rota Nodari.

The ‘exhibition area’ features Remind, the innovative polypropylene chair designed by Eugeni Quitllet, and Elliot tables by Patrick Jouin. They are joined by the Tribeca collection by CMP Design, which was inspired by classic Sixties patio chairs made from steel and woven cord, and one of the products selected for the 2019 ADI Design Index and nominated for the Compasso d’Oro 2020.

The outdoor area is home to the Folk chair by CMP Design, while the dining area also features Remind armchairs, as well as Ikon tables by Pio and Tito Toso.

Maison et Objet Paris, the international event for home décor and interior design professionals, opened on 17 January, bringing the curtain up on the 25th edition of one of the design world’s best-loved and most prestigious annual design events.

With the theme of Re(Generation), this year’s M&O Paris is not only hosting the expected array of installations, conferences and new product launches, but also previewing the future of design by focusing on young, up-and-coming designers.

Running until 21 January at the exhibition centre at Paris Nord Villepinte, the 2020 edition of Maison et Objet will examine the new trends that are being driven by Generations Y and Z.

The creativity emerging from these talented and innovative 20- and 30-somethings will be highlighted by the Rising Talent Awards, being contested five designers and one duo from France, whose work is being prominently displayed at the show. The six Rising Talents are Adrien Garcia, Julie Richoz, Laureline Galliot, Mathieu Peyroulet Ghilini, Wendy Andreu and design duo Natacha&Sacha.

Native Union

Vincent Sheppard

It’s also appropriate that Maison’s Designer of the Year, Michael Anastassiades, is returning to the show where he launched his eponymous brand in 2007.

Other highlights at the show include Pedrali’s ‘Palace of Wonders’, a booth designed by Milan-based architectural studio Calvi Brambilla that features ‘real interiors’ in which the company’s products are displayed. Something special was expected from the brand, which has exhibited at M&O for 10 years now.

Elsewhere, Spanish furniture brand Colección Alexandra is displaying new products at its stand. The new products on display include the contemporary Cobra armchair; designed by CuldeSac, it envelops users in a warm embrace while providing a 360º view. Designed by Jacobo Ventura, the Kentia occasional tables feature a pared-down aesthetic; the curved-shaped iron sheets that form the base inspire lightness yet are strong enough to delicately support the glass top.

Products from Pedrali have been chosen to furnish the cafeteria of the newly renovated Tahrir Cultural Centre of the American University in Cairo (AUC). The space has been designed by Style Design Architects studio and is described as ‘a place of leisure and sharing, characterised by a contemporary design which harmoniously contrasts with the ancient stone walls”. The aim is to offer society the opportunity to join cultural events, art exhibitions, concerts, lectures and much more.

The Pedrali furniture products utilised include the Arki-table, which is placed in the middle of the room, and comfortable Fox armchairs. Designed by Patrick Norguet, Fox is defined by its harmonious mix of materials and contrasting geometric lines. For the Tahir café, its polypropylene shell is in sand and smoky blue shades, which give a touch of colour to the surrounding environment, combined with ash wood curved profile and legs. The warmth of wood also emerges through the Nym chairs and barstools, designed by CMP Design, which are complemented by Malmö and Intrigo armchairs, Lunar tables and Babila barstools.

Pedrali products are specifically designed to meet the rigours of contract spaces. Its products in plastic materials are made using high-quality raw materials and are recyclable and eco-friendly, while those made from wood are FSC-certified and finished with organic water-based paints made principally from plant-derived resins.
